We are the youths of Talents World. Youths empowering Youths - to make a difference in our world
TALENTS WORLD is a leisure discussion group as well as a resource network and empowerment hive. A time when talented youths all over the world meet to discuss their similar ideas and encounters. Talents World is a for youth, by youth and of youth initiative that steers youth towards the path of talent development, self actualization and societal transformation.
TALENTS WORLD is an association of youths who, having sought to discover their talents or potentials and under the inspiration or motivation of a youngster "Samuel C. Okechukwu, have formed themselves into a group for the service of humanity through the use of their unique and diverse talents.
Founded in May 2001, as a hobby and youth creative group. Talents World is here to help youths discover and maximize their potentials. Talents World is managed by a democratically Elected committee, headed by a Chairman (Active President), all technical aspects of the league are controlled by the Founder / Honorary President, Young Samuel, assisted by a number of Students and Professional Technical Advisers.
We meet for discussions and training online and once in a year offline, at designated centers around the world where our members exist, allowing great flexibility for busy people as most of our members are. We involve every member of the group to discuss and train in our friendly and relaxed but disciplined online environment, where participants are not left without rewards.
Talents World exists in our society, because of the society’s need which she perceives and strives to intervene positively, by the aid or support of individuals and organizations who willingly identify themselves with her.
Of course, great good and great evil come to us from the use
people make of their talents. And though it is typically said
that "this" or "that" is responsible for
the disheartening issues troubling our society, yet we must
acknowledge that these are not blind forces of nature beyond
human control. For even though acts of individuals often do
have unintended consequences, nevertheless people choose
whether to use their talents or potentials for good or evil
ends.
These choices central to the ethical question are made not
only by those who receive the by products of human
talents-society members, viewers, consumers, listeners,
readers etc. but especially by those who control the mediums
by which human talents are being utilized, those who determine their structure, policies and content. The
public officials, cooperate executives, members of governing
bodies, cultural, political and traditional leaders, property
/ business owners, publishers and station managers, editors,
news directors, producers, writers, correspondents, and others
involved in the creation, coordination and maintenance of
human works and activities have a particular acute ethical
question to face: Are we using our talents or potentials for
good or evil?
The impact of human talents so far can hardly be exaggerated.
From the simplest structures and instruments produced locally,
to the complex or sophisticated structures and instruments
existing in our world. The rapid technological changes, the
advent of the information society, the range and diversity of
media accessible to people are all emanations from the human
talent.
But more often than not, human talents are employed to block
community good and injure the integral good of persons by
alienating people, marginalizing and isolating them; drawing
them into perverse communities organized around false
destructive values, fostering hostility and conflict,
demonizing others and creating a mentality of 'us'
against 'them', presenting what is base and degrading in a
glamorous light, while ignoring or belittling what uplifts and
ennobles; spreading misinformation or disinformation,
fostering trivialization and banality. Stereotyping-based on
race and ethnicity, sex, age and other factors, including
religion- is distressingly common in our society. Too often do
we overlook what is genuinely good and important to
concentrate on the fashionable or faddish.
And beneath the curtain of these anomalies, stands the youth
who have always played prominent roles. The beauty, creative
ideologies, talents, energy and potentials of the youth have
always been exploited towards these ends. No doubt that the
life and future of youths today have been hurt, damaged and
discounted by the very society who should protect them and
uphold their interest and well-being. Their past is blighted
and their future un-promised and endangered. Even so,
brutalization, corruption and violence have constantly gone
hand in hand with political instability, economic stagnation
and decline in dragging our countries into a moribund
state.
In the face of a deteriorating social fabric, what can be done
save the day: to develop good character in the young, to help
them identify and maximize the use of their talents
/potentials while harnessing the resources of their society.
No doubt that this calls for a system that discovers and
imparts the quality of life and virtue to youths, bringing
them together to persevere with one mind and purpose, then
sending them out into the evil and sorrowful places of the
society, there to perform a good work of transformation.
Mindful of the fact that many youths today are unable to reach their full potentials because enlightenment avenues, resources, opportunities and support are too few, fragmented and distant, we refuse to abandon the ultimate remedy to chance because we see a world where youth empowerment has moved from a mere philosophy promoted by the passionate minority to a way of life that governs the policies and behaviour of countries. We see a world that respects the dignity and potentials of the human person and directs their talents towards societal good. That world is not far from us as we are here to speed up its actualization with our talents.
OUR VISION is to become the leading global catalytic agent or key that unlocks the full potentials of youth.
OUR MISSION now is to be highly innovative, resourceful, collaborative, opportunistic and strategic at a local, national and international level in identifying young talents and providing them with information, enlightenment avenues, resources, opportunities, relief, advice and management.
OUR AIMS OR GOALS derived from our mission are:
- To re-orientate today’s youth and make them realize who they really are and their potential power to control the various factors influencing their style of life or behaviour by using the greatest assets they have (their time and talent)
Circumstances which one would regard as accidental determined the date May 27, which seemed appropriate to the first moments of an organization whose first and constant aim has been to reach out to children and youths in a lost generation.
With specific goals and core principles, Talents World is an embroidery of various strategies which we will implement, both independently and in partnerships with well meaning organizations, to build youth empowerment infrastructures locally, nationally and internationally.
With strong community commitment, strong public will, diverse partnerships and effective management, TALENTS WORLD will make youth empowerment take deep roots in our society and blossom to heights unknown.
Talents World is a short and long-term investment that requires the harnessing of energy and resources from different sectors in a community. especially the sectors that affect young people (i.e., education, corporations, health care, juvenile, justice, religious groups, and recreation). In pooling resources together, TALENTS WORLD is able to provide immediate relief to youths in crises while empowering them to create a secure or stable means of livelihood. Not by carrying the burden alone, rather TALENTS WORLD helps youths find and access those organizations that can be of immense benefit to them in the plight of empowering themselves.
And in the end what will TALENTS WORLD be? A catalyst that reacts with every community to speed up the rate of youth empowerment and directs it towards societal transformation. Helping individuals and organizations reach their maximum potentials / targets, Talents World will become a friend or companion of all in the creation of an ideal society where peace, love and happiness will reign.
